Vroom Vroom!

Today, class Ariel, were lucky enough to have the opportunity to go to Leinster Driving School in Maynooth. It was a first experience for many but we took it in our stride and soon we were all driving like Jeremy Clarkson!
We began the day by splitting ourselves into groups of three. You had to choose wisely as the whole day was going to be spent with them. Each group were given a folder of 40 questions as a "mock theory test". As our group were successful in our answers, we were given a voucher for a free driving lesson. What more could you want?
Next we were given a pair of "drink goggles". It gave us the illusion that we had had one-too-many and were quite tipsy. We each then ad to place a cone in a certain place and then give the instructor a high-five. Let's just say it was a lot harder than it looked!
We were then given time for lunch so we were fueled for the experience ahead. We sat in a little silver Toyota Yaris and were greeted by our instructor Mick. It was up and motoring and that stage and we were on the road.
I was unaware at the level of difficulty we covered after such little time. We drove around roundabouts, reversed, hill started AND parked! It was an injury-free day too which was a surprise after some peoples driving.
I absolutely loved the experience and wish we could do it everyday. I can honestly say it was the best thing T.Y has given us all year. It was a great way to start back just after the Easter Holidays and I hope to be on the road very soon!

Did Someone Say Fashion?

T.Y has had many wonderful experiences, I have enjoyed so many things throughout the year but one particular thing that stands out the most would have to be the fashion show.
As I wrote in one of my older post, I was a successful candidate when it came to modelling for the fashion show. To add to this honour, I also got to "strut my stuff" on the catwalk with my two best friends. Friends and fashion-what more could you want?
As we set off on our journey to Mexx in Manor Mills, excitement built inside us all. Ms. Leonard was shocked at my "diva" ways when it came to my outfit choices. As you know, fashion is my all time favourite passion so I wasn't going to let this opportunity fail.
When it came to rehearsing for the fashion show, I was nearly first to the hall. I enjoyed every moment of the fashion show from beginning to end. I believe fashion shows should become an annual thing in school because it was definitely the most fun I have ever had. I also gave Elle Macphearson a run for her money, so if anybody needs a model I am just a phone-call away!

Future me? Is that you?

T.Y has been a roller-coaster with both high and low points. The joys of shopping in town after a day selling lollipops is exciting. Being confronted with the devastation Zumba has just ended however is one of the low points. One thing that I have learned in T.Y is that it gives you the perfect opportunity to find yourself.
Being thrown into the deep end at the start of the year with a new class was definitely a daunting experience, but I faced it like a boss and got to know so much more people that I never would have before the year had begun.
In T.Y, you are never usually "assigned" homework but you are expected to do your own research. This task has surprisingly come easy to me,as when I get given a challenge I give it 110% and work to the best of my ability until in my mind I can put a big red line through it, with relief, saying done!
With my work experience completed in a prison, it has really proven to me that I want to work in the social department of the work force. I love the satisfaction of knowing I have helped someone and knowing that with my help, their difficulties have become slightly less. As my mam always says "a problem shared is a problem halved".
T.Y has definitely become a year where I have really found myself. I have worked on the "past me" and have prepared for "future me". It has truly been a year I would recommend to all.

The Potential!

I have recently come back from watching the Oscar awarded film "Into The Wood". I can honestly say that it was one of the worst films I have ever seen!
It started off on a high when I heard the cast of the movie. A mix of James Corden and Meryl Streep-who wouldn't want to see it? This filled me with glee and I couldn't WAIT to see the film.
The film had begun and I was in awe of their costumes (which they have been awarded for). However, the great costumes and setting added nothing to the film. It was just never going to be as I had imagined.
Just when I had though the film had ended, a new story-line emerged. I did not know when the film was going to end but I did know it wasn't going anywhere soon. Two hours, two hours later the film ended. I was so fed up I nearly ran out the cinema doors.
I was so disappointed with the film. I had waited so long for the film to come out, as it was a mixture of all the Disney films in one but it wasn't worth it. I do agree that the costumes deserve an award but as far as the film goes, I wouldn't agree.
If I were you, I'd have a cosy night in by the fire and waste the money on a nice, greasy take-away.

The Wonderful Country Of Poland!

The joys of T.Y is the projects that must be done. One of these projects was on a European Country of your choice. The country I choose was Poland as I felt it would be an interesting country to study.

T.Y So Far-And More To Come!

I have now been in T.Y for just over 5 months now. I can honestly say it is quite an experience but sometimes I wish we did more.
I know that expense is a major downfall when it comes to T.Y. As a result, we don't go on as much outings as I had hoped. But hey, we sure do do some exciting things!
One of these trips was Carlingford. All I can say is friendships there have been made for life. The Fashion Show was also a major event. Being Cara Delevingne for a day was quite an experience.
Work experience is also quite taunting! The world of work is scary but it is something I can not WAIT to do. I am currently trying to look for my third work experience which is very stressful. TIP: Get your work experiences organised early.
As our Christmas treat we were brought to Elf The Musical in the Bord Gais Theatre. This was an amazing show and got us all in the Christmas spirit.
We are going to Mullingar tomorrow to perform our class play. It is another event to add to our collection and hopefully we get on well. T.Y is a great experience and I would recommend it to all!

Becoming The Bell Of The Ball!

As I begin my preparations for my night out, I have a lot to do. My outfit and hair sorted down to a T, giving Victoria Beckham a run for her money! There is just one slight thing that is causing a bit of stress.....make-up!
I am usually quite good at my make-up skills but a little bit of help is always useful. There is just one place where us 21st century teenagers go (and something we couldn't live without) and that is the internet.
As I type in "Naked 2 Smokey Eyes" into YouTube, a huge amount of videos appear. The only hard part is to choose which one you prefer!
YouTube is a hugely helpful resource which can help you with almost everything. Who knew THAT just one single website could help you with both how to do your make-up AND listen to your favourite songs. That's the glory of technology I suppose!
This is one of my favourite videos, with easy-to-follow steps. If you want to be the "bell of the ball", I'd recommend this to all!

Shop 'Til You Drop!

As I finished watching the film "Confessions Of A Shopaholic", one thing and one thing only came into my mind....I WANT TO LIVE IN NEW YORK!
The idea of the city that never sleeps, sends thrills to my body. To be constantly thrown into the world of lights, celebrities and shops...what a world it would be.
To wake up with a purse full of money and shop from dusk til dawn, I would surely be in my element. Of course I would give a wave to the Statue Of  Liberty(wearing my brand new clothes of course), and have a picnic in Central Park. I cant forget about showing my true colours and attending a Baseball game (even if the rules to me are like straightening curly hair, the two just wont click), I would enjoy myself.
Maybe the idea of actually living in New York and being on the go 24_7, wouldn't have the same reaction to my sleeping patterns as I wish. A holiday would do me just as well and would also save me a LOT of money.

Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!

The year has come to a close again which means that Christmas is sadly over. No more "waiting for Santa", turning on the tree lights or wrapping presents anymore. However, statistics have proven that Christmas is the busiest time for recycled goods....but how can that be?
As we open our presents on Christmas morning (some earlier than others), we remove all the packaging from our gifts. This packaging has to go somewhere and so to the green bin it goes! As a result there tends to be an overflow in the last collection of the year.
I come from a family with two brothers, who tend to be quiet lazy. When the cardboard milk cartons are empty, they like to leave it in the fridge shelf. Therefore, I usually end up going out to the bin in either hail, rain or snow to put the cardboard in the recycling bin. I feel that it costs nothing to recycle so why not do it. It benefits us all even if it's just a toilet roll!
